“This is really unfair of spur to turn-a-blind eyes to what he did on the pitch”-Pundit stunned by what Micky van de Ven did for Tottenham against Crystal Palace this weekend
Pundit shocked by Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven’s performance against Crystal Palace this past weekend: “It’s really unfair of spur to turn-a-blind eye to what he did on the pitch.”
No one seemed to notice the “sheer audacity” moment that Garth Crooks praised one Tottenham Hotspur player for in Saturday’s victory over Crystal Palace.
In their pursuit of a top-four Premier League finish, Ange Postecoglou’s squad scored a crucial late goal to earn a crucial three points.
Among those who found the back of the net in the match against the Eagles was Cristian Romero. Surprisingly, the Argentinian appeared in the six-yard box to convert a cross from James Maddison, giving Tottenham the lead.
Following Tottenham’s victory, Micky van de Ven was praised.
However, it’s possible that his center-back partner has been underappreciated. After naming the Dutchman to his team of the week, Garth Crooks made the comment on BBC Sport that Micky van de Ven deserves much more praise than he has gotten.

“Cristian Romero may have scored the goal in the final minute of Tottenham’s match against Crystal Palace, but the moment of pure audacity was provided by Micky van de Ven,” he remarked.
On rare occasions, you might come across a defender who is completely at ease with the ball in his hands and can fill in virtually any position on the field. Among these athletes is Van de Ven. I usually frown upon defenders taking needless risks, particularly when they are outnumbered and the last man in defense, but Van de Ven’s 88th-minute dribble past Crystal Palace’s forward Matheus Franca was absolutely brilliant. Strangest of all, nobody seemed to bring it up. Only the legendary Ruud Krol of Ajax, who is also Dutch, could pull this off with the same ease. At last, he had arrived.
Spurs’ central defensive duo is incredibly promising
The Premier League has been pleasantly surprised by Van de Ven’s performance this year. He came in the summer for a hefty sum. Additionally, it was likely that he would require some adjustment time to play in England due to his advanced age.
However, van de Ven stands out. Together with Romero, he has formed an astonishing partnership. Plus, Tottenham’s high line benefits greatly from van de Ven’s speed, as he is the league’s fastest player.
If van de Ven and Romero can remain healthy for the remainder of the season, it will be a huge advantage for Spurs. They ought to be more diligent about maintaining clean sheets. However, it is evident that the two are very talented.
