Man United leading race to sign €75 million Inter Milan midfield star amid strong Liverpool and Newcastle united
Manchester United is among the Premier League clubs that could persuade Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella to join them this summer, as reported by Fichajes.
The Italian player has been frequently associated with a transfer to the Premier League. Newcastle United contemplated signing him last summer, but he rejected their proposal.
The speculation regarding his future persists. Inter reportedly aims to extend his contract until June 2028 in order to retain their valued asset.
The 27-year-old player is an important part of manager Simone Inzaghi’s strategies. However, if Manchester United, Newcastle, or Liverpool manage to persuade both the player and Inter to make a move, their situation may change.
The ex-Cagliari player has consistently played in the number eight position for the Nerazzurri.
Nicolo Barella at Internazionale for the 2023–24 season.
He has played in 35 games and scored seven goals this season.
He is a key player for Inter Milan, and his leadership in potentially securing another Serie A title is crucial.
He is highly popular at San Siro due to his vigorous pressing and steadfast work ethic.
Barella is currently at the pinnacle of his career and, at 27 years old, may be challenging to acquire.
The agreement’s conditions may depend on manager Erik ten Hag’s requirements.
If Casemiro were to leave Manchester United, Barella might not be considered a replacement, as the focus could turn towards a holding midfielder.
The European champion is a versatile midfielder whose goal-scoring skills and creativity may complement Ten Hag’s fast transition style. The player’s market value on Transfermarkt is €75 million.
