Ex-Man Utd star’s comments on Bruno Fernandes speak volumes after transfer announcement
At Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes leads both on and off the pitch.
Earlier this week, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes sent a farewell note to Facundo Pellistri, demonstrating his leadership abilities both on and off the game. The 22-year-old winger’s answer also demonstrated how well-liked Fernandes is in the United locker room.
After completing his departure from Old Trafford, Pellistri signed a contract worth up to £7 million to join Panathinaikos, a Greek powerhouse.
After joining United for £9 million from Penarol in 2020, he made 25 senior games and contributed two assists.
However, despite already having 26 caps, the Uruguayan international has fallen down Erik ten Hag’s winger hierarchy.
At the beginning of the season, it seemed as though Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Amad, Marcus Rashford, and Antony were preferred to the starlet.
Pellistri posted a note to fans on social media following United’s announcement of his departure, stating: “Dear Reds, It’s time for me to say farewell.
It’s been an amazing adventure filled with treasured memories and experiences that I will always remember. Your steadfast assistance, both on and off the pitch, is something I will always cherish.
“Thanks to you, I’ve developed both as a player and a person. Once a Red, always a Red, as you say.
I will always have a particular place in my heart for Manchester. I’m wishing the club and each and every one of you the very best in the future.”
While several of Pellistri’s teammates expressed their sympathy and love, Fernandes made the extra effort to create a special Instagram post in remembrance of the man.
Fernandes said, “Hermanito was a pleasure to meet you and play alongside you,” beneath three pictures of the two of them.
“You are the one who truly deserves it all when it comes to a football career! a model of humility and professionalism. You’re going to experience big things shortly, I’m confident.”
Pellistri answered in the comments, saying, “It was a pleasure to share and play with you! What a guy, and more importantly, what a player.
“Thank you for always being behind me and behind every player in this club, you are the definition of CAPTAIN!”
As the driving force behind Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s United rebuilding initiative, Fernandes has reaffirmed his commitment to the team by signing a contract extension that runs through 2027 with a one-year option.
Although the 29-year-old maestro has his detractors, his standing among teammates and other Old Trafford officials attests to his eligibility to wear the armband.
