Bid made: Arsenal have made a new bid to sign world-class forward,He is number 1 on Edu list, player to arrive with representative after Aston Villa game today

The Independent claims that Arsenal has decided to target Nico Williams, a wide player, from Athletic Bilbao before the transfer deadline.

This summer, the Gunners signed defender Riccardo Calafiori as an outfield addition, but it might not be long until they officially acquire midfielder Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad. The Independent is now claiming that Arsenal wants to sign a new wide player before the transfer window shuts next week.

Williams of Bilbao is the ideal candidate for the position, but Arsenal might not be able to sign him. The Basque team recently gave the Spaniard the No. 10 shirt, and he has no intention of leaving his native team. The 22-year-old would love to stay in the top division in Spain and has as his medium-term goal joining Barcelona.

The Independent claims that if Arsenal is unable to convince him to sign, the team may look at recruiting someone akin to Leandro Trossard, who might offer something different. The Gunners are ready to exercise Williams’ £48 million release clause, but if they choose to buy someone else before the deadline, the budget will be much smaller.

challenging transaction
With 27 goal involvements in the previous season, Williams had an exceptional year for Bilbao, which contributed to their Copa del Rey victory. The youthful winger went on to score two goals and provide an assist while representing Spain at the European Championship. In the tournament final, they defeated England 2-1 and he scored the first goal.

Although it has long been predicted that the attacker will depart Bilbao, he may decide to stay this season. Williams’ transfer deadline is August 30, so finding a suitable successor may not be easy given La Liga’s stringent policy of only signing players from the Basque Country.

The Thomas Partey achievement from the summer of 2020 may be something Arsenal wants to replicate, but Williams isn’t looking to go, so the situation is very different. Securing his services would allow Arsenal to make a big statement, but as things stand, it appears that they could have to wait until next summer to get rid of him.

The Gunners might decide to sign someone akin to Trossard. Some names that spring to mind are Raheem Sterling of Chelsea and Kingsley Coman of Bayern Munich. But those two players receive substantial weekly salaries from their respective teams. This summer, Arsenal should only consider a loan agreement for both players.
