Erling Haalaand sends one-word message to former team-mate Jadon Sancho after winger leaves Man Utd for Borussia Dortmund loan
After Jadon Sancho left Manchester United for Borussia Dortmund on loan, Erling Haalaand wrote a touching note to his old teammate.
Sancho commits to Dortmund.
puts an end to the Man Utd nightmare, at least until the summer. Haland gives Sancho a message.
Consequently, what happened?
After four productive years at Dortmund, Sancho moved to United in 2021 for an estimated £73 million ($93 million). But he fell short of expectations during his time at Old Trafford, and following a public altercation with Erik ten Hag, he was forced into exile in August. In an attempt to turn around his failing career, the winger has returned to his previous employers on a loan agreement purportedly worth €4 million (£3.4 million/$4.3 million) with no buy-back option.
Haaland commented “beautiful” on Dortmund’s Instagram story, expressing his excitement at seeing his close friend take on a new challenge in his old haunt.

The two became close friends at Signal Iduna Park, where they spent a year together. Together, they won the German Cup in 2021 thanks to 16 goals and 20 assists from Sancho. One week prior, Haaland shared on Instagram his admiration for Sancho, calling him a “proper baller” alongside an image of the German Cup.
WERE YOU AWARENESS?
Despite his prior successes, Sancho has had difficulty reproducing his Dortmund form in his two and a half seasons at United, where he has scored 12 goals and provided six assists. His development was further hindered by the off-field incidents, and his argument with Ten Hag regarding a social media post was the icing on the cake.
