One more trophy remains for Lionel Messi to claim before his eighth Ballon d’Or, which is widely anticipated.
At the Ballon d’Or ceremony later this month in Paris, Inter Miami star Lionel Messi will likely take home the trophy for his eighth consecutive year of outstanding play.
He led Argentina to World Cup victory in Qatar, and the 36-year-old was an integral part of it.
Before leaving Paris Saint-Germain for Inter Miami of the Major League Soccer this summer, Messi had a respectable season with the French club.

Messi has broken records left and right and won innumerable individual awards throughout his legendary career.
But he hasn’t been successful in winning the Golden Foot award just yet.
Twenty years have passed since the Golden Foot was first presented, and among the many football greats who have won it, one name remains omitted.

The age requirement to be considered for the award is 28, and it is a one-time only prize.
Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mohamed Salah, Luka Modric, and the best player of the year as chosen by journalists are the recipients of this award.

Robert Lewandowski, a forward for Barcelona, won the trophy in 2022.

The Polish striker expressed his happiness and pride upon receiving the award. Knowing how hard I’ve worked for this, and finally being able to take pride in my accomplishment, makes winning this award an enormous honour for me.
“It fills me with even greater pride when you see the names of the winners of this trophy.”
Messi will be hoping to win the Golden Foot for the first time, but he’ll have some tough competition from players like Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
