Roy Keane’s ‘lucky’ reaction to Newcastle draw and Manchester City slammed for ‘rip off’

Roy Keane has asserted that serendipity has favored the treble winners, Newcastle United, who must defeat holders Manchester City in order to advance to the FA Cup semi-finals.

Roy Keane has mentioned that Manchester City have ‘got a little bit of luck’ due to their home-field advantage against Newcastle United in the FA Cup quarterfinals.

Newcastle hopes to become the first team to defeat the holders on their home field since November 20, 2022, when they face off against the holders later this month at the Etihad Stadium for a spot in the quarterfinals. Newcastle has drawn their last four cup matches on the road (against Sunderland, Fulham, and Blackburn Rovers), and manager Roy Keane felt the stars had aligned in their favor.

The legendary Manchester United player told Sky Sports, “They got a little bit of luck thrown in there.” “They got a home draw against Newcastle and, obviously, they had a really good result in the first-leg in Europe so it all looks fine from that point of view.”

“We can beat anybody when we’re at our best,” the Magpies boss declared, while half-jokingly stating that he “almost swerved off the road” upon hearing last week’s draw. With a claim to as much as fifteen percent of the Etihad Stadium’s 53,400 available seats, Newcastle is sure to have a strong supporter base.

The Football Supporters Association has taken issue with City’s policy of charging adult Newcastle supporters as much as £37.50 for tickets in the South Stand. The match is clearly a quarterfinal, but when these two teams met earlier this season in the Carabao Cup third round, a ticket to St. James’ cost £20.

“The £30 cap in the Premier League has been a great success – saving fans millions and ensuring away ends stay full,” a spokesperson for the FSA told X. Although this isn’t a Premier League match, the FA Cup isn’t an acceptable justification for exploiting supporters by increasing ticket prices. Preserve the FA Cup’s monetary value.
