Phil Foden to make shock Manchester City exit: report
Phil Foden has been a notable performer in the Premier League for Manchester City this season, but he may leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Without Kevin De Bruyne at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, Foden took on a more prominent role to assist Manchester City in their typical style of overpowering opponents. His remarkable achievement of scoring 18 goals and providing 10 assists in 40 matches for Pep Guardiola’s team underscores his significance.
The Manchester City attacker may consider leaving before his eighth season in the senior squad, having already won all possible titles with his childhood club.
Real Madrid is reportedly making significant efforts to get Phil Foden to join them this summer, following the almost certain acquisition of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer from PSG.
The report indicates that Juni Calafat, Real Madrid’s senior scout, is working to finalize a contract for the 23-year-old player, whom he has identified as the next potential star for Real Madrid.
Foden might consider moving to La Liga at the end of the current season, especially with his England teammate Jude Bellingham already doing well in the Spanish city.
Foden’s services will be costly due to his Manchester City contract running until the summer of 2027. Transfermarkt valued him at £100m, although it would probably require a significantly higher amount to acquire the Premier League’s top player from Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City will permit discontented players to depart, as demonstrated by the transfers of Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, and Riyad Mahrez in recent years.
If Phil Foden chooses to transfer to Real Madrid, he will face much tougher competition for positions compared to what he presently encounters at Manchester City. Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr., and Bellingham are current club members, with Mbappe and Endrick expected to join in the upcoming summer. Consequently, gaining a spot in the starting lineup may be much more challenging.
