A blow has been dealt to Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team after Paul Mitchell declined a position in the club’s recruitment department.

Newcastle United’s sporting director Dan Ashworth is anticipated to join the Red Devils to work under Omar Berrada, who takes a CEO position after leaving Manchester City.

Even though INEOS’s deal to purchase a quarter of the team is still pending, they are rapidly modernizing the Old Trafford organizational structure.

Even though Ashworth would be a huge coup, INEOS wants someone beneath him to be fully focused on recruitment.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, United has wasted money, and their squad is the most expensive in the world.

The Englishman did amazing work at Southampton and Tottenham while he was in England, and his body of work is impressive.

He signed players like Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane to the Saints, and he brought in Son Heung-Min, Dele Alli, and Toby Alderweireld to the Spurs.

After leaving Monaco last year, it was assumed the 42-year-old would head back to the United Kingdom.

The Athletic, however, claim that Mitchell has let United know he is not interested in joining the team in any capacity.

It’s been reported that he wants to explore other options, which might not be limited to recruitment.

It’s a setback for INEOS, who will now need to find a new person to oversee hiring.

One candidate is Julian Ward, the former sporting director of Liverpool.
