Kieran Trippier, a defender for Newcastle United, received a touching message from Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk following the England international’s two errors that allowed the Blues to advance to the Carabao Cup semifinals.

After Callum Wilson’s early opener, Chelsea put on a commanding display, continuously applying extreme pressure to the Magpies’ deteriorating defense in both halves until they eventually broke through late on. When Malo Gusto crossed the ball, Trippier’s header missed the mark and fell to goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, allowing Mudryk to break free and tie the score for the Blues in the 92nd minute.

Due to the equalizer, the game proceeded straight to penalties. After Cole Palmer, Callum Wilson, and Conor Gallagher all scored their penalties, Trippier advanced to make up for his earlier defensive error. But he missed the post with his spot-kick, which allowed Mudryk to score and Djordje Petrovic to stop Matt Ritchie’s penalty kick to advance the Blues to the semifinals.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino expressed his happiness with the outcome immediately after the game, citing the team’s mutual belief as the driving force behind their achievement that evening. “I am really happy, and the players deserve some recognition,” he declared. Any team can be impacted by conceding the way we did—we didn’t deserve to concede. We responded brilliantly and won the match against a top-tier team like Newcastle.

“After that, we keep going in the second half, make a few adjustments, and naturally aim to have some influence on the team. The most crucial thing in football is to never give up, which is made possible by our unwavering belief that penalties are a lottery. Naturally, aptitude and excellence.

Naturally, we’re happy because, going into the game, our goal was to advance to the semifinals. We need to move on from our semi-final position, wait until tomorrow, then concentrate and get ready for the next Premier League match.”

Following the match, Mudryk repeated Pochettino’s remarks regarding the unity of the Blues’ performance, stating: “Obviously, the goal means a lot. Even if it doesn’t work out, you can still have faith in one another and believe that everything is possible if you stick with it through. It’s necessary to persevere through difficult moments in the game and maintain faith until the very end because anything can happen in football.”

But after the gunfight last night, the celebrity had more to say. Following the game, Mudryk posted a sophisticated message on social media to Trippier, who was clearly disappointed in himself following last night’s final whistle.
