Mikel Arteta responds to Sheffield United thrashing with warning to Arsenal's title rivals

On Monday night, Arsenal hammered Sheffield United 6-0 at Bramall Lane, sending a message to Liverpool and Manchester City about who’s boss.

Arsenal legend Mikel Arteta has warned Liverpool and Manchester City that his team is prepared to put more pressure on them for the title.

The Gunners became the first English football club to win three straight away games by five or more goals when Ben White scored the club’s 10,000th goal in a 6–0 drubbing of Sheffield United.

With title contenders Liverpool and City meeting the following day, Arsenal now has a chance to go top if they defeat Brentford on Saturday. “I am unsure if goal differential will be pivotal,” Gunners boss Arteta said. Nevertheless, we must secure victory in the upcoming games, and a victory over Brentford is a prerequisite for that.

The amount of goals we scored and the clean sheet made it a great performance and a big result for us again. There are encouraging indications that the team wants more.

Although they are a very well-organized team, we were able to find the back of the net three times out of four.

“Having faith in the players is crucial. It is within their capabilities. The players have been outstanding, and when things are going well, it boosts confidence.

“A lot of things can go wrong. In order to win, we need to put in a lot of time and effort into getting ready for the game. We will witness it if we accomplish those and are victorious.

Bukayo Saka’s halftime illness and Gabriel Martinelli’s injury to his foot were the only two yellow cards Arsenal received.

Bukayo was sick and not feeling right, Arteta said. It was a little cut with Martinelli, so we’ll have to watch how he does.

After his team let in five goals or more for the fourth straight home game, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder saw his fans show their disapproval with a mass departure just before halftime.

“This season has been extremely painful,” Wilder stated. The fans’ decision to leave before the end is understandable. The club is very beloved by them. Right now, everyone is in pain.

Before the season ends, the players, coaches, and I need to meet and figure out what our next steps are. It’s not acceptable and should not be the norm for home games.
