Man Utd make key breakthrough in Manuel Ugarte pursuit as PSG soften transfer stance
According to a source, Manchester United have advanced in their efforts to acquire Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
United is determined to secure the signing of Ugarte from PSG.
The Red Devils believe that the requested price is excessively exorbitant.
The French party is open to reaching a mutually acceptable agreement.
The Red Devils have been associated with a potential transfer of the Uruguayan player in recent weeks, but they have not yet reached a consensus with the French team. According to inews, both parties have acknowledged the need to come to a mutual agreement over the transfer cost. This development is advantageous for United as they strive to finalise the deal.
United’s attempts to sign Ugarte encountered an obstacle due to their perception that PSG’s request for a £51 million ($67m) transfer fee was exorbitant. As to the source, the 23-year-old is eager to transfer to Old Trafford, and the English team believes that a £40m ($52m) sum would be reasonable for him. However, PSG, who recently acquired the player, is now unwilling to accept that offer.
Following the acquisition of Joao Neves from Benfica in a lucrative agreement, PSG now have an excess of midfielders, including Danilo Pereira, Warren Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, Carlos Soler, and Ayman Kari, who are all capable of playing in central midfield. Conversely, United is keen to bolster their midfield to provide coach Erik ten Hag with ample choices, aiming to enhance their performance from last season’s ninth position in the Premier League.
The English and French teams will persist in their conversations regarding a potential agreement for Ugarte, aiming to finalise the deal before the transfer window concludes on August 30. Meanwhile, Ten Hag and his team will persist with their preparations for Saturday’s Premier League match against Brighton.
