Marcus Rashford to Barcelona – Hansi Flick ‘requests’ transfer swoop for Man United winger after failed Nico Williams pursuit

Hansi Flick has expressed a desire for Marcus Rashford to join Barcelona, following an unsuccessful attempt to get Nico Williams from Manchester United.
Hansi Flick has urged Barcelona to acquire the services of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, following his unsuccessful attempt to secure the signing of Nico Williams.

Since assuming control of Barcelona, the manager has been explicit about his desire to have a left winger in his starting lineup who had the ability to both score and dribble.

Williams from Athletic Club was a target for the Catalan giants earlier this summer, and they increased their pursuit of him after the winger played a crucial role in Spain’s triumph at Euro 2024.

However, it seems that Athletic Club is unwilling to part with their star winger this summer.

Williams is not expected to join the club, hence the Blaugrana have identified alternative options, including France’s Kingsley Coman and Bayern Munich’s underutilised attacker.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has emerged as a surprise candidate on their shortlist. Reporter Albert Fernandez alleges that Flick has requested the team to recruit the English winger.

The performance of the 26-year-old has been closely scrutinised in recent years following a poor performance in the 2023-24 season, where he only scored eight goals and provided six assists in all competitions.

His lacklustre performance resulted in his removal from the England squad that went to Germany for Euro 2024.

So far this season, the attacker has appeared in both of the Red Devils’ matches, although his performances in those games have been unconvincing.

Barcelona has not yet made a formal offer for the English national team player. It is uncertain whether they will decide to pursue a transfer for the player before the summer transfer window ends.

Rashford’s next appearance will be on Saturday when he plays for Erik ten Hag’s team against Brighton in the Premier League.
