He delivered a solid performance for us last night,if not for Him the scoreline could have been 7-1′: Bruno Fernandez named the Man United player that saved them from humiliation yesterday
He did a good job for us last night; without him, we might have lost by a score of 7-1. Bruno Fernandez has revealed the identity of the Manchester United player who spared the club’s blushes yesterday.
In United’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League derby, center back Raphael Varane played well.
Although Sunday’s loss was United’s second in a row in the league, the team still took some good things away from their performance at Etihad Stadium.
To silence his detractors, Marcus Rashford scored a breathtaking long-range goal in the eighth minute. Two more goals would have been within his reach.
From his usual vantage point in the park, Kobbie Mainoo was rock solid. Despite Rodri’s best efforts, the teen was victorious in every ground duels.
Varane also had another outstanding performance in defense. With nine clearances and three times lost possession, he thwarted the City assault.
Although he had a disappointing first-half performance against Haaland, the World Cup winner was solid defensively, winning all of his aerial duels and completing 90% of his passes.
United need to renegotiate Varane’s contract because his current £350,000-a-week deal is up at the end of June and the club’s upper management has opted not to activate an option to extend his contract by one year.
There are currently no plans to negotiate a new long-term contract, but we think the club should offer a fair salary reduction.
The player who cost £34 million is, when fit, undeniably among the world’s top. Despite his less-than-stellar fitness record, he is a key player in United’s center back position.
In the next weeks, I’m hoping that the contract negotiations will make some headway. Jonny Evans, who has gone above and beyond, may also be nearing a new contract.
Regrettably, the 36-year-old was substituted out after the hour mark due to an injury, despite appearing confident alongside Varane in the center of defense.
