Victor Lindelof, a defender for Manchester United, may be moving this summer as a result of Fiorentina’s interest, according to reports.

With four new arrivals thus far, three of them defensive, the Manchester United and manager Erik ten Hag have had a busy transfer window. Both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui arrived from Bayern Munich, and young Leny Yoro finished his transfer from Lille in France.

A few players have left, including right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who moved to West Ham United, a rival team in the Premier League. The second defensive departure is Raphael Varane, who signed with Italian team Como at the end of last month after his contract expired this summer.

His contract is set to expire in one year.

According to sources in Italy, Fiorentina, a Serie A team, is considering a transfer for United defender Lindelof. Lindelof has surfaced as a possible target as they look to strengthen their defensive ranks this summer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

According to the source, Old Trafford has added multiple defensive players. The Swede now has the option to depart before the August 30 deadline thanks to this transfer window. There have been rumours that a loan transfer is imminent, and Fiorentina is trying to learn about the terms of the transfer and salary payments.

Before moving to Benfica in 2012, Lindelof started his career at Vasteras IK in his native Sweden. Three years later, he advanced to their first team, and in 2017, United signed him for a sizeable sum. Ben Thornley called him “outstanding” despite the fact that he was limited to just 28 games in all competitions last season, many of which came from out of position.

Over the course of seven years, the centre defence has made just under 260 appearances for the Red Devils and netted four goals. Lindelof’s current contract, which pays an estimated £120,000 a week, is scheduled to end in 2025 after he signed a short-term contract extension in January of this year.
