Breaking News: Kristaps Porzingis Provides Positive Update After Injury Scare as his son confirmed death this morning
Kristaps Porzingis scored 19 points and grabbed four rebounds in the Celtics’ 143-110 victory over the Heat on Thursday.
The only negative aspect of the Boston Celtics’ 143-110 victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday was enough to detract from one of their most impressive performances this season.
Just under five minutes into the second half, Kristaps Porzingis lunged to block a Bam Adebayo baseline shot near the basket. The seven-foot-three center landed on the latter’s foot, rolling his ankle.

However, after limping off the court and being helped down the tunnel by the Celtics’ training staff, the Latvian native returned to Boston’s bench a little later.
He appeared to be in a good mood, pretending to box with Jaylen Brown during a timeout.
After the game, Porzingis spoke with the media, stating, “I just went to contest Bam’s shot, and as I came down, I landed on his foot, and (then) I rolled my ankle; not too bad, just, in the moment, it kind of, he got me pretty good in the moment, but feeling pretty good now.”
The former All-Star, who the Celtics deemed doubtful to return but did not rule him out for the remainder of Thursday’s game, said he could have returned, but given the circumstances, erring on the side of caution was the prudent approach.
Given that this game was played in late January rather than during the playoffs, that was the better decision, regardless of the score or the opponent.
And, while he is relieved with how he feels now, Friday will provide a more solid understanding of the situation.
“I hope so,” Porzingis said when asked if he expects to be on a daily schedule. “I think tomorrow will be clearer, how it is doing, especially after a flight too, and all that, but as of right now, feeling pretty good and staying positive.”
