Breaking News Chelsea infuriate fanbase by selling trio in January transfer window to meet financial regulations

According to a report, Chelsea might have to sell three players in January in order to comply with Premier League Financial Fair Play rules.

Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital acquired the team from Roman Abramovich in May 2022, the Blues have invested over £1 billion in new players during three transfer windows.

But Chelsea is trying to balance the books to adhere to Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules after going on spending binges in three straight transfer windows.

The Blues have adhered to the regulations over the previous two seasons by offloading domestic players, such as Billy Gilmour, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who were all academy graduates.

This is due to the fact that any transfer fee associated with academy products would be 100% recorded as profit on a balance sheet.

And this window, the team might try to carry on the tradition of selling young players.

Conor Gallagher is reportedly being considered by Tottenham, and some Chelsea officials are reportedly willing to sell the midfield player in order to balance the books.

This season, Gallagher has been among Chelsea’s best players. He has led the team in Reece James’ absence on multiple occasions.

According to TalkSPORT, Trevor Chalobah, a 24-year-old center back, is reportedly admired by Bayern Munich, which means he could be leaving the team soon. According to rumors, Chalobah was amenable to a reunion with Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena last summer.

Since making his Chelsea debut in the 2021–2022 season, he has made 63 appearances; however, a hamstring injury has prevented him from playing this season.

And finally, Ian Maatsen, the versatile left-back, has an uncertain future ahead of him. The 21-year-old, who is also capable of playing as a winger, struggled to get minutes under Mauricio Pochettino but did assist Burnley in winning the Championship last season while on loan.

Borussia Dortmund is reportedly a possible destination for the young player, according to TalkSPORT, with Chelsea having set an asking price of £30 million.
