After Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Fulham at Craven Cottage, which has severely damaged their Premier League campaign, former defender Matthew Upson called the team’s recent performance “flat.”

Upson, who was speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, emphasized the team’s lack of energy by drawing a comparison between their current play and their earlier exploits as an attacking force.

Arsenal’s performance was both unimpressive and concerning as they failed to maintain their early momentum after taking the lead through Bukayo Saka.

The team’s attacks were ineffectual because there was a clear lack of urgency and inventiveness. Fulham, on the other hand, took advantage of their opportunities, scoring twice and showcasing a stronger attack, especially in the last third.

This loss ended Arsenal’s remarkable streak of never losing a top-flight match after taking the lead, in addition to keeping them from taking the lead in the Premier League standings.

Only one point ahead of rivals Tottenham, they find themselves in a precarious position after suffering their first loss since January 2022 in similar circumstances.

Arsenal must deal with these performance concerns in order to regain their form as they get ready for their forthcoming FA Cup match against Liverpool.

Upson said, “When it’s all going right for Arsenal, the ball is firing,” which highlights how urgent this task is. They split up teams.

That hasn’t been the case lately, and their backside has also appeared a little shady. The main thing that worried me about Arsenal was how worn out and flat they appeared.
