DONE DEAL: Man United deal to sign £101,000 a week Star is now a done deal

With the addition of Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Joshua Zirkzee, and Leny Yoro to their roster this summer, Manchester United has little leeway in their pursuit of adding even more strength to Erik ten Hag’s team.

The legendary Brazilian Casemiro had a lacklustre campaign at Manchester United last year, which led the team to start looking for a replacement this summer. But the 32-year-old has made a great start to the season, performing well in his first two outings.

Even if the veteran is probably going to stay at Manchester United, the team has made an effort to get a player who will be able to succeed Casemiro after his playing days are finished. Manuel Ugarte, a midfielder for PSG, is one player they have identified since the start of the summer window.

The 23-year-old international from Uruguay is fresh off an outstanding Copa America campaign in which, under Marcelo Bielsa, he was probably the key player for his country. That’s a rather remarkable accomplishment on a team that includes players like Luis Suarez, Darwin Nunez, Federico Valverde, Ronald Araujo, and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Reliable Italian writer Fabrizio Romano now reports that Man Utd and PSG have had a favourable round of loan negotiations with an obligation to purchase the £51 million player, and that the transaction is nearly complete having reached the last level.

At PSG, Ugarte receives a weekly salary of £101,000. Even a wealthy club like the Ligue 1 giants would be reluctant to part with that amount of money for a player who is not part of their plans. At Old Trafford, one would think the 23-year-old’s pay would be comparable.

Ugarte is the closest thing to Casemiro in terms of profile. Naturally, drawing parallels between the 23-year-old and a five-time Champions League victor. The great from Uruguay has the capacity to match the Brazilian playmaker’s level of skill.

It would be reasonable to anticipate that Ugarte would be Manchester United’s final high-profile summer acquisition. They don’t have much wiggle room in terms of the Premier League’s PSR regulations, as seen by the fact that they are requesting a loan with a purchase obligation.
