Assaulted a young child and caused her to sustain a traumatic brain injury.
The court hearing for the sentencing will take place on September 10th.

Kiernan Hughes-Mason assaulted the toddler in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex in 2020, resulting in her requiring constant care, according to the Daily Mail. On January 31, 2020, the ex-footballer contacted emergency services and sought an ambulance while he was responsible for taking care of his former partner’s daughter. Upon the paramedics’ arrival, he originally reported hearing a huge explosion emanating from the upper floor while he was on the lower floor. He speculated that the little girl had accidentally fallen upon a dollhouse.

Following the administration of an induced coma, medical experts discovered that the two-year-old child had a total of 17 distinct injuries on her legs, back, face, and chest. It is believed that all of these injuries occurred within the period from October 2019 to January 2020. Hughes-Mason was apprehended by law enforcement on February 14, 2020, following the filing of a child cruelty case.
According to the Metro, the prosecution’s counsel stated in court that a doctor had likened the child’s injuries to those sustained in a high-speed car crash or a fall from a significant height, such as several stories. The prosecution introduced text conversations from Hughes-Mason to his former partner, in which he expressed annoyance with her and made a threat of physical violence.
The individual, who is currently 32 years old, pursued his early professional development with both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur football clubs. Subsequently, he made two appearances for Millwall’s senior team during the period spanning from 2009 to 2010. Subsequently, he competed for several non-League clubs, such as Barking, Grimsby, Welling, Kettering, Maidstone, Leatherhead, and Greys.

Hughes-Mason began his career as a manager with Tower Hamlets in the previous year. Recently, he held the position of Enfield Borough manager until his dismissal on Wednesday after being convicted.
Enfield Borough FC has announced the immediate termination of Kiernan Mason-Hughes’ managerial position, as stated by club chairman Marvin Walker in a statement released on Wednesday evening. This decision is based on recent disclosures of significant legal issues from Mr. Mason-Hughes’ previous history, which were not revealed during the recruiting process. Enfield Borough FC is dedicated to upholding the utmost levels of ethics and responsibility, and we consider this measure essential in order to retain these principles. We deeply value the comprehension and ongoing endorsement of our fans and community throughout this period. No more statement will be provided.
The ex-footballer also participated in matches and held the position of reserves manager at Hashtag United. The team has publicly disavowed the 32-year-old individual and issued a statement on Wednesday, expressing their awareness of profoundly disturbing news concerning one of their former players and reserve team manager, Kiernan Hughes-Mason. He has been convicted of abhorrent crimes. First and foremost, all individuals affiliated with the club would want to express our sincerest condolences to the victim and their family. We are unable to fathom the extent of their experiences after these abominable incidents occurred.

“The club can definitively state that it had absolutely no knowledge of these events until today.” It has been conveyed to us that the crimes for which he has recently been convicted took place prior to his association with our organisation. Significant deficiencies have been revealed in the protocols, since we have obtained confirmation from the appropriate authorities that he has passed the necessary checks to be eligible for coaching, as per the standard background checks.

“Our club strictly enforces a zero tolerance policy regarding any behaviour that is even remotely related to this.” Our core principles revolve around fostering optimism, embracing diversity, and, most importantly, establishing a secure environment for everyone.

The court has unanimously convicted the individual, who is 32 years old, and they will get their sentence on September 10 at Basildon Crown Court.
