DEAL APPROVED: The English player’s £45 million transfer to Arsenal has finally been approved by the board. An announcement is expected soon.

According to transfer reporter Graeme Bailey, Liverpool and Arsenal are allegedly going head-to-head over a deal to recruit Ademola Lookman of Atalanta.

Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United has been strongly connected to the Reds, which may be a clue that the Merseyside team is trying to boost the front line by adding a new wide attacker.

But the Magpies are reportedly asking for about £75 million to offload their best player because they are desperate to hang onto him. Liverpool appears to have begun exploring for less expensive alternatives as a result in order to bolster the assault.

According to Bailey’s article on TBR Football, Liverpool has expressed interest in signing Lookman and may take more decisive action to do so before the deadline.

But the journalist claims that Arsenal has also entered the competition and is keeping an eye on the Nigerian’s current circumstances before making any possible bid, so buying the player won’t be easy for the Merseyside club.

Because Battle Lookman is expected to depart La Dea prior to the August 30th deadline, he has not been included in Atalanta’s roster for their opening Serie A match against Lecce.

Bailey adds that Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a move for him in addition to Arsenal and Liverpool.

Arsenal has been connected to a few names in recent weeks, suggesting that they intend to recruit a new winger this summer. But for now, their main goal is to get a new midfield player, and Mikel Merino is their first choice.

Lookman has had a fantastic few years with Atalanta, helping the team win the Europa League championship the previous season.

Should he eventually sign with Arsenal or Liverpool before the deadline, the African could be able to immediately show off his best qualities in the English top division, having previously played for Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City.

Transfermarkt values him at approximately £34 million. He is a technically skilled player who excels at dribbling past opposing defenders in confined spaces. He can also close the gap for other attackers and maximise his own possibilities.

If Arsenal and Liverpool compete for Lookman, it will be intriguing to watch who prevails in the end in the signing battle.
