“It is unfortunate that Arsenal did not sign him, as he is the only player who can truly challenge Pep Guardiola and Man City.”Arsenal legend Ian Wright bemoaned the club’s grave error in failing to get the £65 million incredible superstar.

Ian Wright says Arsenal erred in not snatching up a big deal from competitors.

Ian Wright, a legend of Arsenal, has stated that his old team ought to have moved to steal a significant deal from competitors.

The legendary Ian Wright of Arsenal has opined that his old team ought to have intervened to prevent Tottenham Hotspur from acquiring England striker Dominic Solanke.

After having a stellar season in which he scored 21 goals in 42 appearances for the Cherries, Solanke received interest from numerous elite clubs. Last week, he signed a deal with Spurs worth up to £65 million, leaving Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old attacker was formally introduced to Tottenham’s supporters over the weekend after agreeing to a contract that ties him to the club until 2030. Wright, though, feels that Arsenal would have gained more by hiring Solanke instead.

Arsenal, who placed second in the Premier League the previous year, have been linked to a number of strikers throughout summer, particularly after heavily depending on Kai Havertz to play upfront.

During an interview on The Overlap, Wright expressed confidence in response to a question regarding Arsenal’s preparations for the next Premier League season, which begins this weekend: “The preseason has gone really well, and it’s great to have [Riccardo] Calafiori in.”

“I know there’s something else in the works for Arsenal, they’re going to try and do something, and they have to,” Wright said, implying that Arsenal might still be involved in the transfer market. They must score more than 90 points. When the need arises, they will take care of it. They require an improved bench.

Gary Neville, a former Manchester United defender, questioned Wright during the conversation about if he was shocked that Arsenal had not made a move to recruit Solanke. “You know, I wouldn’t have been too…,” Wright retorted. I wouldn’t have been bothered if Solanke had been the choice.

“With [Gabriel] Jesus and [Gabriel] Martinelli, they lost their place last season, but we can probably get the goals from them if they get back to where we know they can be,” he said, admitting the potential in Arsenal’s present attacking options. They have improved from the previous season.

Wright praised Solanke’s transfer to Tottenham and predicted that he would be one of the season’s biggest acquisitions. “At £65 million, Dominic Solanke might be the season’s best acquisition,” Wright said. “I think he could be a good signing with the way he plays, and I like that move for them.” He scores goals instead of being hurt.

After the summer transfers of Yang Min-hyuk, Lucas Bergvall, and Archie Grey, Tottenham added Solanke, who won his lone England cap in 2017.
