David Silva receives a message from John Stones
It is the 38th birthday of the Manchester City legend today, Monday.

Stones was one of two players at the Etihad Stadium, along with Sergio Gomez, to reaffirm Manchester City’s Instagram post wishing Silva the best of the team.

In the comments section, the England international wished “happy birthday @david21lva.”

Gomez then called Silva his “idol” while also adding a blue heart to his message

Though it was nice to see the £47.5 million Stones and Gomez wish the man from Arguineguín a happy birthday in public, we’re sure others sent their best wishes in private.

Alongside Silva, Stones made 101 appearances for Manchester City, contributing to the team’s remarkable 2.25 points per game average.

The two only managed one goal between them during that span of time, when Silva helped Stones score in a 4-0 victory over Feyenoord during the 2017–18 season.

Regretfully, Silva suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in July 2023, a few days before he decided to declare his retirement from the NFL.

Considering his age and the extent of his injury, it was a reasonable choice.

There may never be a player like Silva at Manchester City again, and Silva is without a doubt one of the best footballers of his generation, if not all time.
