Will the rumors about Kylian Mbappe and Liverpool ever end? Probably not in the near future.
With the Frenchman’s contract set to expire this summer, reports of a standoff over a renewal with PSG have surfaced once more.
But Rickie Haywood-Williams has cautioned the Merseysiders not to rush into a deal because of the potentially disastrous financial consequences.
The host of the Footballer’s Football Podcast cautioned, “I don’t know the finances of FSG but if you go by the model in which Liverpool do their business, it’s just not what we do” (via BBC Sport).
“We acquire players who have the potential to be exceptional players; Klopp shapes them into exceptional players.” We don’t purchase the completed work, and if you were to hire someone of that caliber at those wages, everything about our club would fall apart. After all, what would you do? How do you handle Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk? They will demand even higher pay, which will further complicate matters.
“Even though I would adore Kylian Mbappe at Liverpool, I find it annoying that every single transfer window, it is brought up in the media.”
The World Cup-winning midfielder has scored 22 goals in 23 games this season in Ligue One, demonstrating his prolific form.

A contract on our terms or not at all
Please do not misunderstand us. Would it please us to watch Kylian Mbappe score thirty million goals a season in front of the Kop while wearing the renowned red shirt?
Would we, Christ alive!
Although he is an excellent football player and goal scorer, the deal is probably not going to close on our terms.

It’s just not going to happen unless Mbappe is willing to accept a salary on Merseyside that comfortably fits within our current wage structure.
To be perfectly honest, we’re cool with that.
