Wonderkid starts + Wildcard striker | Expected Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Man City as Ten Hag men set to battle for crucial three points today

Manchester United are visiting the Etihad Stadium today for the Premier League clash versus Manchester City.

Manchester United are currently 11 points behind the top four teams following Aston Villa’s recent away victory against Luton Town.

Winning the Manchester derby is crucial to narrowing the gap, and United can assert their dominance by defeating their main rivals.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Projected Starting XI:

Andre Onana has participated in every minute of United’s Premier League season since transferring from Inter Milan in the summer. The Cameroonian goalkeeper has been exceptional in recent weeks and is expected to face a challenging match at the Etihad Stadium.

It is possible that the backline in front of him will be identical to the one that played in the 1-0 victory against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fifth round. Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof will play in the central defense for the Red Devils while Harry Maguire is injured.

Diogo Dalot will play as a right-back, while Sofyan Amrabat will start on the opposite side following a strong and composed performance at City Ground. Ten Hag is unlikely to take the risk of deploying Willy Kambwala at right-back alongside Dalot on the left.

Casemiro is a guaranteed starter in midfield, playing in the number six position. The Brazilian scored a decisive late goal against Forest, marking his return to scoring. Kobbie Mainoo, who was a substitute in the previous game, should partner him. The wonderkid deserved a break.

In the near future, we expect an unexpected strategic adjustment from the manager. Antony performed well in the first half at City Ground, hitting the woodwork. However, he should be replaced by Alejandro Garnacho on the right wing.

Marcus Rashford has been unsuccessful as the main striker, managing only one shot on target in the last two games. He could resume his favored left flank position while Bruno Fernandes starts in his usual number 10 role.

Ten Hag may consider trying out a different striker due to Rasmus Hojlund’s injury. Our chosen choice is Scott McTominay. This season, the Scot has a goal conversion rate of 20%. Only Hojlund has performed better in the league.
