Virgil van Dijk has criticized Manchester United’s strategy against Liverpool, saying that in their 0-0 draw, only one team was “trying to win”.

After a frustrating afternoon, the Reds captain declared that March’s decisive 7-0 victory over the Red Devils is now simply outdated.

Liverpool lost the chance to overtake an inept United team and reclaim the top spot in the Premier League, so it was a wasted opportunity. Despite dominating the play, Jurgen Klopp’s team performed poorly on this gloomy afternoon.

Liverpool vs. Manchester United as it actually happened

After their thrilling victory over Brentford on Sunday, Aston Villa moved level on points with the Reds, giving Arsenal their lead back atop the table.

“A hundred percent. We controlled the majority of the ball and generated some opportunities, as you can see from the way we played. Van Dijk stated, “There was only one team attempting to win the game.

Naturally, we want to win every game, which is why it irritates us. We occasionally shot too easily and had the opportunity to pass on the overlap. Sometimes the right choice was not made.

Naturally, we continue, but it annoys us because we were better in every way. Ultimately, we are disappointed with a point, and they are giddy with a point.”

Erik ten Hag, the manager of the Red Devils, has been under increasing pressure in recent weeks due to the team’s lackluster play and their humiliating 3-0 home loss to AFC Bournemouth.

The Champions League’s midweek victory over United at Old Trafford by Bayern Munich knocked United to the bottom of Group A. Even though Liverpool was the clear favorite going into the match on Sunday, Van Dijk was not happy with his performance.

“It is evident that they are not at their best. You are cautious about our threat when you come here. We ought to have prevailed today. We must, and I am confident that we will, learn from some circumstances,” he continued.

“Last year we didn’t come in with a good feeling towards the Manchester United game but we won the game convincingly, but last year doesn’t count now.”

Roy Keane, the former captain of Manchester United, was incensed by the interview and called Van Dijk “arrogant” for his remarks.
