Verified: Following the removal of a roadblock, Zinedine Zidane is currently scheduled to succeed Erik ten Hag at Manchester United
Verified: With the obstacle gone, Zinedine Zidane is now anticipated to take over as Manchester United manager from Erik ten Hag.
According to a former teammate, Zinedine Zidane has been clearing a major obstacle in his quest to succeed Erik ten Hag as manager of Manchester United.
The Frenchman has been linked to a move to Old Trafford should Ten Hag, who is having a rough second season at United, decide to leave the team.
United finished last in their Champions League group, and the Dutch coach would surely be under more pressure if United lost to Liverpool on Sunday.
A report in The Sun on Wednesday stated that potential minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe met with former Chelsea manager Graham Potter, who is expected to succeed Ten Hag should the British billionaire decide to relieve him of his duties.
But Zidane is still there, and his appointment to Old Trafford would signal the end of an almost three-year absence from football management.
Zidane revealed to L’Equipe in 2022 that he faced numerous challenges that prevented him from managing English football.
He said, “I might not be able to go everywhere.” Take the language, for example. There are some situations where it gets harder.
Even though I don’t speak English well, I can understand when someone asks if I’d like to go to Manchester. While I am aware that some teachers visit groups in an uninterpreted language, my method is distinct.
Zidane has, according to Emmanuel Petit, a former teammate from France, been studying English this year.
“Zizou has been taking English lessons for the last few months,” he said to DAZN Bet. This is an open door; I’m not sure if he wants to come and manage in England.
“I believe he has changed his mind about leading a team in England since he began learning English.
“You need to stay sharp as a manager because football moves and changes so quickly. He hasn’t managed anyone in a few years.
Admittedly, he doesn’t currently have many excellent employment options in England. But since he’s learning the language, he will now take English-speaking jobs into consideration.
Is Zidane going to play English football anytime soon? Keep an eye on this area.
