The UEFA President made his first decision on Michael Oliver’s subpar officiating against Liverpool when Dalot gave the incorrect penalty kick

DERMOT’S INSIGHT: “Upon more examination, it seems that United is the one who is getting thrown. Dalot, however, gave the world a negative impression with his unsuitable response.

Referees are expected to penalize similar behavior this season, which has led to a rise in yellow cards for similar offenses.

ANOTHER INCIDENT: At Anfield in the first half, Darwin Nunez was given a yellow card for a challenge on Jonny Evans.

He appeared to be protesting the decision and mockingly applauding the assistant referee, making it unlikely that he would receive two yellow cards.

DERMOT’S POINT OF VIEW: “This is a difficult situation; it’s not an exact science.”
It is possible to choose not to give Dalot two yellow cards, but then Salah’s and Nunez’s cards will be requested shortly after.

Since striking a balance is challenging in these situations, the referee’s decision is the best one to take.

Nunez was not dismissed, as United supporters demanded; the referee had other ideas.
