For Sunday’s derby against Manchester United, Manchester City may be without Josko Gvardiol and Jack Grealish.

Even though Pep Guardiola’s squad is in title contention, the Blues are heavy favorites going into the match. Nonetheless, coming into this match, both sides are riding high after FA Cup victories in midweek.

Tuesday night’s 6-2 win over Luton Town was highlighted by Erling Haaland’s five-goal performance. On Wednesday, Casemiro’s header gave Liverpool a late victory over Nottingham Forest.

The Manchester Derby will be without ten players, according to reports.

If City want to keep their winning streak going, they’ll have to find a way to win without Grealish. A recurrence of the groin problem that sidelined him earlier this season caused the winger to come off early at Kenilworth Road.

It was confirmed by Guardiola during his press conference. “I don’t think [he will be back before the internationals],” said the coach.

He needs to make a full recovery so we can use him to our full potential, but I haven’t discussed this with the doctors yet. An alternate is at our disposal.

“Setbacks in life are always there, it is how you overcome them.” Gvardiol could make a comeback to the matchday roster on Sunday.

The Croatian has been sidelined since early February due to an ankle ligament tear, preventing him from making any Premier League appearances. “Josko is good,” Guardiola said before Luton’s match.

We have training this Monday afternoon, but he’s doing well and isn’t in too much pain. He is almost ready to return, but he hasn’t trained with us yet.

“We train this afternoon but I think everyone [else] is fine.” Despite not being named to the squad in midweek, Gvardiol may be ready for a bench role after completing a few more training sessions.
