Anfield’s defensemen appear to be failing one by one as of late. Robertson was the first to go down, having suffered a shoulder injury in October that is expected to keep him out of action for at least the remainder of January.

Joel Matip then suffered an ACL tear, so it’s unlikely that we’ll see him again until the following season.

With Robertson already sidelined, things got worse when Tsimikas broke his collarbone. As a result, Liverpool was forced to play without a reliable left-back.

In fact, Jarell Quansah played in the middle last time out, and Joe Gomez filled in there as another center-back was sidelined.

Due to the back-line crisis, Jurgen Klopp is searching for left-back reinforcements.

According to recent reports, Antonee Robinson of Fulham was being considered for a move to Anfield and the American player was “open” to the idea.

A later report, however, claimed that Liverpool was not interested in signing him and was not even considering adding a left-back to the team.

Beck returns to Liverpool
That implied that Gomez was still expected to play left back.

However, after making a wise decision early in the transfer window, Klopp now has another resource at his disposal.

Dundee has confirmed that on the first day of January, when it was possible to do so, the Reds recalled 21-year-old Beck from his season-long loan with them.

He became a “important player” very quickly, and they say he will be “greatly missed.”

In his 17 Scottish Premiership games, Beck netted twice and provided an assist twice for Dundee, indicating that he possesses the attacking attributes Liverpool looks for in their defenders.

Klopp has options for left backs.
It’s unclear, though, how frequently the defender will be put to use in practice. He might be acting as a stand-in for Gomez, who is handling his current workload quite well.

Now that Beck is available again, it wouldn’t be shocking if Klopp gradually added him to the team.

After his brief stay in Scotland, the young player has proven he is capable of playing senior football.
