Liverpool beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 on Saturday, according to Mark Clattenburg, a former Premier League official, who believes the Reds benefited from referee Paul Tierney’s error.

Jurgen Klopp’s team gained four points at the top of the Premier League thanks to a crucial win in the 88th minute from Darwin Nunez.

Although Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi had possession of the ball when play was stopped due to Ibrahima Konate’s head injury, the ball was given to Liverpool in the build up to Nunez’s winning goal, which irritated Forest.

Forest coach Steven Reid was sent off for approaching referee Tierney on the field, and after the final whistle, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis confronted Tierney.

Speaking following Forest’s loss to Liverpool, the former Premier League official stated that Tierney had made a mistake. Marinakis had brought Clattenburg to Forest last month in an advisory capacity to assess the performance of referees.

“The law is quite clear,” Clattenburg stated.

According to the law, if the referee suspects a head injury, he has the authority to halt the game. But whichever side has possession must get the ball back. That item was obviously in the possession of Nottingham Forest.

If Nottingham Forest had regained possession of the ball, the game would have turned out differently. After that, Liverpool launched an offensive and scored.

I know how frustrating it is. At this time, Nottingham Forest Football Club appears to be in a losing streak.

After their altercation, the owner is understandably agitated. He wants his substantial financial investment in the football club to pay off. More bad news for the football club, in his opinion. His anger is understandable. I believe that everyone is disappointed and distressed because of this loss. Perhaps things will turn around for the better down the road.
