Levi Colwill claims ‘VAR has something against me right now’ after insisting he was denied a foul in the build up to Scott McTominay’s winner in ‘frustrating’ 2-1 defeat to Man United

According to defender Levi Colwill, VAR ought to have given Chelsea a foul.
In their five games, they have struggled for form, winning two, drawing one, and losing two.
Mauricio Pochettino is largely responsible for the appalling Chelsea: Everything Is About to Begin

The Chelsea player Levi Colwill feels cheated that he was not given a foul against Manchester United in Wednesday’s 2-1 loss, leading him to believe that VAR is working against him.

In the Premier League, Chelsea lost to Manchester United, with goals from Scott McTominay and Cole Palmer capping a 10-year winless streak for the Blues at Old Trafford.

Robert Sanchez saved the penalty kick to keep his team level after just nine minutes of play after United was awarded a penalty in the first half. Fernandes’ terrible attempt was not enough to fool Sanchez.

Colwill felt a pull from the Scot as he was trying to stop McTominay from netting the game-winning goal in a subpar effort from the visitors.

But no points were given, and Colwill even implied that he would have received a spot kick if the roles had been reversed.

The former Brighton loanee felt he had been pulled by McTominay and suggested had the tables been turned a penalty would have been given

“I don’t know what I did to them, but VAR has something against me right now,” he remarked.

“They attempted to give a pen against Brighton, but they gave up when I got pulled [by McTominay].” They would have penalized me if I had pulled him in that manner. That’s just the way things are.

That evening was quite annoying. We missed opportunities that could have changed the outcome of the game significantly, but it’s all part of the process, and we’ll move on when we play Everton this weekend.

As their own inconsistencies persist, Chelsea performed below par against the Red Devils.

The following game, they were crushed by a formidable Newcastle team, despite their impressive performance in the nail-biting 4–4 draw with Manchester City in November.

They had defeated Brighton 3-2 the night before the United match, hoping to mount a comeback, but Mauricio Pochettino’s team lost on Wednesday night as well.

With six games remaining before 2024 begins, the Blues will play Newcastle in a tantalizing Carabao Cup quarterfinal.

While acknowledging that his team has had difficulty stringing together a string of wins, Colwill urged his teammates to “improve quickly” during the hectic holiday season.

Our goal is to get better as soon as we can. We must maintain greater consistency. Any team, regardless of how long they have been together or have had a manager, can experience inconsistency.

“It is a period of transition, but we must go beyond that.” We need to get better fast, start winning games, and play football every single time rather than just occasionally.

There is nothing we can’t do. We will start to gain points and move up the table if we start giving the best performances we can.

They will get the opportunity to do just that on Sunday when they take on an Everton team that is back in the bottom three following their 10-point deduction. They will then play Wolves and Sheffield United, two teams that are struggling.
