Darwin Nunez has been shy around the goal lately for Liverpool, but Jurgen Klopp is still keeping an eye on the big picture.

Darwin Nunez, a striker for Liverpool, has impressed Jurgen Klopp, who says he is “really, really happy” with the Urugyuan’s progress and believes he will soon start scoring goals again. The Reds’ attempt to overcome Manchester United’s comeback and settle for a goalless draw saw them knocked off top of the Premier League standings on Sunday.

As a result, Arsenal, who had defeated Brighton 2-0 earlier in the day, ended the weekend as the league’s top team. The two teams will play each other on Saturday at Anfield in a crucial match that will decide who will be crowned the league champion on Christmas Day.

Prior to the 2022–23 season, Nunez signed a £65 million contract to join Liverpool from Benfica. However, he hasn’t scored a goal in 10 consecutive games for Klopp’s team, which has many worried about his goal return.

Only four of the 24-year-old’s seven goals this season have come in the Premier League during three games.

However, Klopp is unfazed by the circumstances and is confident that his South American striker will eventually score as many goals as his high-dollar transfer indicated because he is giving him enough opportunities in games.

In a Prime Video interview, Klopp discussed Nunez, saying, “He stays in the games.” He exudes positivity both during and after the game. In the beginning, he was a little bit, like, aggressive in the wrong way. when something doesn’t work out.

He is now totally at ease right now. He is assertive, but not overly so. Right now, I’m really, really happy with what I see, and the rest will work itself out. We are therefore totally at ease, that much is true.

“Had the potential to score more goals? Indeed, without a doubt. Could he be in more circumstances? Not in my opinion; he has every moment. We now need to focus on the final details.”

After arriving on Merseyside, Nunez made an immediate impression. He scored against Manchester City in the 2022 Community Shield at Wembley, but he lost his composure with the Crystal Palace defender and was sent off on his Anfield debut for headbutting Joachim Andersen.

In 29 appearances during the previous season, he scored nine goals in the Premier League and fifteen goals overall. In August, the Uruguayan displayed his genuine abilities when, with two devastating finishes in the closing minutes of Liverpool’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, he scored twice.

However, he has struggled to maintain his spot in the team ahead of Dutch forward Cody Gakpo in his last ten games wearing the red shirt. As a result, Klopp must make a decision before Mikel Arteta’s Gunners visit Anfield on Saturday night.

If either team wins on Christmas Day, they could both lead the Premier League, but a draw would give Aston Villa the opportunity to take the lead if they defeat Sheffield United at home on Friday night.
