Ivan Toney makes feelings clear on Arsenal transfer after Brentford open door to exit
Ivan Toney, an England international, is available for a potential £100 million transfer from Brentford to Arsenal and Chelsea in the January transfer window.
Ivan Toney’s liking of a social media comment about joining Arsenal in January has fueled more rumors about his future.
The 27-year-old Toney is presently serving an eight-month ban from the Football Association for breaking their betting regulations. The England international’s suspension expires next month, and Arsenal is interested in signing him to increase their chances of winning the Premier League.
Toney, whose contract is set to expire in January, is expected to fetch up to £100 million from Brentford. By liking a comment made on his Instagram account by actor Michael Ward, the striker has now fueled transfer rumors.
Ward remarked, “Arsenal do the right thing?” following Toney’s posting of numerous photos of himself. The player liked the remark in response, thrilling Gunners supporters.
Only Erling Haaland (36 goals) and Harry Kane (30 goals) scored more goals in the Premier League than Toney did in the previous campaign. Although London rivals Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Toney, it is believed that Arsenal is leading the race for his signature.
Because of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, Arsenal might have to sell players in January in order to pay for Toney. The Gunners signed Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber, and David Raya on loan during the summer for a total of more than £200 million.
With Eddie Nketiah scoring just five goals in the league this season and Gabriel Jesus scoring just three, Arsenal is obviously in need of a prolific striker. They presently lead the table by one point and are trying to win a championship for the first time in twenty years.
The Gunners are unwilling to overpay for Toney. Lee Dykes, technical director at Brentford, has stated that although they will consider offers, they won’t sell him cheaply. “There will be a lot of interest in Ivan in January,” stated Dykes.
Naturally, there ought to be, and it might not be too long before Ivan transfers to a new club. However, because he is a talented player, they will need to pay a respectable transfer fee to obtain his services. A player won’t be sold until we are prepared to sell.
“We sit down with each player and tell them that we will listen to the numbers if their career goals are above and beyond our capabilities, if the timing is right, and if their valuation is met. However, it must be appropriate for all sides.”
Dominic Solanke, a striker for Bournemouth who has nine goals in the Premier League this season, is also attracting interest from Arsenal. However, the 26-year-old, who inked a new long-term contract in September, won’t come cheap either.
