“If he choose Arsenal over Man City, I’ll resign as a football coach…He’s the player we can’t afford to see him playing for them, they may become undefeatable with him”: Pep Guardiola angered by World-class player’s decision to join Arsenal as Man City increases bid to convince him from Arsenal transfer
“I’ll step down as a football coach if he chooses Arsenal over Man City.We can’t afford to watch him play for them since he has the potential to make them unbeatable. Pep Guardiola is enraged by the decision of a top player to join Arsenal, even as Man City raises their offer to persuade him to switch to Arsenal.
According to a report, negotiations for Mikel Merino to join Arsenal are actively progressing and quite advanced.
Fabrizio Romano updated listeners on the status of Arsenal’s pursuit of Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino during a Saturday appearance on the Here We Go podcast.
Romano stated, “Arsenal began negotiations for Mikel Merino weeks ago.” Arsenal and Real Sociedad are currently having discussions.
“The player has an agreement with Arsenal and wants to go there.” The player’s decision is known to Barcelona, Atletico, and all other interested teams.
“The player wants to work for Mikel Arteta, and the contract is ready.” Both the manager and the technological project are genuinely attracting him. He feels that Arteta is the ideal mentor for his abilities.
“At this point, talks between Real Sociedad and Arsenal are fairly advanced; nevertheless, the parties are still hammering out the specifics of the deal, including the terms of payment.
“It’s progressed, but the finishing touches still need attention.”
Merino’s absence from Real Sociedad’s preseason friendly was attributed to fitness rather than an impending transfer, despite recent rumours suggesting Arsenal was still looking for replacements.
However, a growing number of authorities now concur that the transfer is unavoidable; the only question is when it will be completed.
