I always like to say the truth even if their fans are not happy about that’: Gary Neville says there’s something this current Liverpool have that Arsenal as a team don’t have in this title race

Gary Neville thinks that in order for Liverpool and Arsenal to win the Premier League, they need to defeat Manchester City. However, he does concede that “the Jurgen Klopp factor” could be a deciding factor.

On March 10, two of the form teams in the Premier League will meet in a match at Anfield, with the Reds hosting Pep Guardiola’s squad. The defending champions and Jurgen Klopp’s squad are separated by a single point.

After a 3-1 victory over Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium, City narrowed the gap at the top of the league thanks to goals from Phil Foden. On Monday, Arsenal will play away to struggling Sheffield United, giving them a chance to close the gap to four points from second-place Manchester and five points behind Liverpool.

According to Neville, if Liverpool and Arsenal wish to defeat City and claim the title, they must win their upcoming matches against each other.

“Liverpool and Arsenal must believe they can defeat Manchester City,” he proclaimed. I really believe that in order to inspire that massive change in City’s belief that they will win the league, they need to think that way.

I always remember that the team that ended up winning the title would come to Old Trafford and beat us, whether it was Chelsea with Carlo Ancelotti, Sylvain Wiltord, or Mark Overmars scoring there. They shocked us, not by coming to Old Trafford and playing decently or even earning a point.

“It is ominous at this moment in time, and I think that is what Liverpool and Arsenal will have to do to take the belief away from this Pep Guardiola team,” he continued.

Liverpool are a dynamic and energetic team, and they have Klopp to thank. Right now, Arsenal is the best team performing defensively, and they’ve finally found their offensive groove.

“City has the greatest amount of experience. One thing each of the three of them has. All three of them will be revealed here. Is it possible for City to repeat and win this time? Does Arsenal have what it takes to succeed this year? Ten games into the final stretch, they were completely outplayed. Yes, it’s that time again.

To witness Arsenal’s progress, I’ve always wished we could be back in that same situation with City. [William] Saliba and [Declan] Rice have helped them develop, in my opinion. They’ve improved and gained strength from last year.

The next couple of games will reveal the true nature of these teams, and I for one can’t wait. They must attempt to depose City, who serve as the barometer. You can’t claim that “well City might drop points at that ground” if you aren’t successfully defeating them. If Liverpool and Arsenal are to be considered, they must defeat them.
