How André Onana shook a Liverpool star in the tunnel during a draw with Man United
Erik ten Hag’s team played excellent defense as Manchester United and Liverpool drew 0-0 on Sunday afternoon at Anfield.
The home team dominated the game for a large portion of it, but they were unable to break through a solid United defense.
After the game, Liverpool’s captain, Virgil van Dijk, voiced his disapproval of the opposing team’s game plan.
“Throughout the game, you can see that we had most of the ball under control and created a few opportunities. There was only one team trying to win the match, he told Sky Sports.
It annoys us because, of course, we want to win every game. Every now and then we shot a little too easily and missed the overlap. Occasionally, the incorrect decision was made.
We carry on, of course, but it irritates us because we were superior in every aspect. In the end, we are not happy with a point, and they are thrilled with a point.
The goalkeeper for United, Andre Onana, was also clearly bothering the central defense because he thought the player was wasting time when taking goal kicks.
TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook claims that the Netherlands international shouted to Onana in the tunnel, “Because of you, we only played a half-hour game.”
The United goalie, who presently shares the Premier League record for clean sheets, responded to the Liverpool captain with a simple smile.
Following the match, Onana admitted that his performance was unaffected by the famous Anfield atmosphere.
“I felt nothing [from the atmosphere],” he said. Winning the game is more important than keeping a clean sheet, though it is still commendable. To be admitted into this massive club, one must succeed.
He went on, “I prefer to take everything upon myself to protect my players.” Please let them be concentrated and unrestricted. I’m good at taking criticism. It doesn’t bother me.
