Manuel Ugarte is the midfield player Manchester United is most interested in signing this summer, and things are coming closer and closer to that goal.

The Uruguayan international is expected to sign with the Red Devils before the transfer window closes on August 30 according to numerous media reports.

Sport, a Spanish outlet, claims that Luis Enrique “has one foot in Manchester United” and does not want Ugarte on his team.

The 23-year-old playmaker is reportedly prepared to travel to England to finalise his transfer to Old Trafford and is only awaiting the go-ahead from his agent, Jorge Mendes, according to the French media site L’Equipe.

According to today’s Manchester Evening News, Ugarte is almost certain to join the Red Devils as the parties are nearing a final agreement. Ugarte has already agreed terms with Man Utd.

The former midfield player for Sporting CP was left out of the starting lineup for PSG’s inaugural Ligue 1 match, and he was again not in the lineup when the French champions defeated Montpellier with six goals last night.

Therefore, everything seems to indicate that Ugarte will eventually leave the Parc des Princes. Erik ten Hag will send his guy to complete a successful transfer window for Manchester United.

Despite the Dutch manager’s miserable league campaign the previous season, the owners have stuck with him. He now has the responsibility of leading the team back to the top.

After defeating Fulham in their first game, United will play Brighton in today’s early Premier League kickoff.
