The renowned figure of Chelsea will be part of Amazon Prime’s coverage of the Champions League this season, as the streaming service gets ready to broadcast the prestigious European tournament for the first time. Lampard will appear as a commentator alongside AC Milan icon Clarence Seedorf, who achieved victory in the tournament with three separate clubs.
On Monday, Amazon Prime revealed their selection of matches for the Champions League. Gabby Logan will be the host of the coverage, while Daniel Sturridge, Gael Clichy, Laura Georges, and Josie Henning will join Lampard and Seedorf as pundits. Sturridge is a former forward for Chelsea and Liverpool, Clichy is a former defender for Arsenal and Manchester City, Georges is a two-time winner of the women’s competition, and Henning was a runner-up with PSG in 2015.
Alan Shearer and Jon Champion will collaborate to deliver analysis, while Amazon Prime has also enlisted former Premier League official Mark Clattenburg as their referee analyst. The prominent streaming platform will televise the most significant Tuesday match every week, commencing with the play-off stage and continuing until the semi-finals in May.
In June, Lampard said that he had received multiple offers following the conclusion of his second tenure at Chelsea, but none of them resonated with him. Given the challenges faced in his management career, it is conceivable that the 46-year-old may pursue a future in broadcasting. However, there have been suggestions that he might perhaps become the permanent manager of the England national team.
