FINALLY: Erik ten Hag reveals Manchester United’s plans for January transfer window

Erik ten Hag finally discusses Manchester United’s goals for the January transfer window.

Erik ten Hag has acknowledged that when the January transfer window opens next month, Manchester United is unlikely to make any additions.

During the summer transfer window, Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, and Altay Bayindir were among the seven new players that United acquired. On loan from Tottenham and Fiorentina, respectively, were Sergio Reguilon and Sofyan Amrabat.

Jonny Evans, who left Old Trafford in 2015, also joined the team again on a free transfer.

FINALLY: Erik ten Hag reveals Manchester United’s plans for January transfer window

With just one game left in their Champions League group and 12 points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal, United has had a terrible season despite spending £180 million on new players.

After a challenging week, Ten Hag is facing increasing pressure, but a mid-season spending binge seems improbable given the club’s financial fair play constraints and an impending minority takeover spearheaded by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Ten Hag responded, “I don’t think so—and if you can improve your team, then you should do,” to a question posed by the United We Stand fanzine regarding potential new hires in January.

Every player who arrives at Carrington on a daily basis is expected to give their all and do their absolute best.

As a team, you have to search for ways to get better, so in my opinion, the team should adopt the better option if it is both financially feasible and consistent with financial fair play.

However, practically speaking, the best players are rarely drawn to the market in the winter.

“The best players in the world won’t quit their teams in the winter.” It’s athletes who are dissatisfied, hurt, or simply not the proper fit, among other reasons.

United are eager to bolster their squad in a number of areas, including forward, center-half, and central midfielder, but ten Hag may have to wait until the end of the campaign to make any significant additions.

In response to the question of how many players he believes he needs to have a team capable of winning the league, Ten Hag said, “We have to develop and progress this team.” Actually, new players will be joining us during the upcoming summer window.
