Dynamic attacker Benched, Top-class Beast replaced as Spurs unveils New midfield trio – Tottenham starting XI to guarantee 3 points at Everton Revealed

Tottenham will look to win another Premier League game for the first time since mid-December when they host Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, February 3.

Spurs returned to the Premier League’s top four on Wednesday, January 31, with a 3-2 victory over Brentford at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

They are currently ahead of fifth-placed Aston Villa in goals scored and will look to secure their place in the Champions League qualifiers with three points on Merseyside.

Sean Dyche’s side has drawn 0-0 in their last three league games and is winless for the sixth time in the Premier League.

Spurs won 2-1 against the Toffees this season (December 23) and will be looking for a second win over them for the first time since the 2017/18 season.

Ange Postecoglou will need to get his team selection right if they are to have a chance of achieving that goal, and the Australian is likely to make some changes following their midweek win over Brentford.

Guglielmo Vicario is expected to start between the visitors’ posts, despite struggling with the ball against the Bees, completing only 65% of his passes and finding a teammate on just two of his ten long ball attempts forward (Sofascore).

Destiny Udogie is expected to continue at left-back, but, like his compatriot, he struggled against Thomas Frank’s side. Although he scored and tied the game, he was suspect in defence, having been outplayed twice, winning only 50% of the duels on the field, and making the fatal mistake that led to the goal.

Pedro Porro should continue at right-back and will look to provide more quality in the final third than he did against Brentford, where he failed to deliver a single accurate cross into the box in eight attempts. Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are expected to form the centre-back pairing, with the former making a combined four tackles on Wednesday night and the former completing 98% of the passes.

Postecoglou will most likely make changes in the midfield. Pope Matar Sarr could return to Spurs after Senegal was knocked out of the African Cup of Nations. Rodrigo Bentancur struggled against Brentford before being sent off at halftime, and with such a long injury, Postecoglou may decide to rest the Uruguay international as Spurs prepare for their third game in eight days.

Sarr could then partner Oliver Skipp in the center of the park. Skipp was also substituted at halftime this week, but he was arguably better than Bentancur on the night, completing 96% of his passes and winning four of his five duels down the field, as well as completing the final attack.

James Maddison is expected to complete the midfield three after starting against Brentford for the first time since November. On his return to the starting lineup, he lacked some competitive edge, but he still demonstrated his ability with three key passes and won nine of his 13 duels on the floor.
