Daniel Agger, a former defender for Liverpool, has chosen his ideal five-a-side roster from his time at Anfield.
The Danish center back played 232 games, scored 14 goals, and won the League Cup in 2012 during his eight and a half years with the Reds.
Agger was asked the age-old difficult question of selecting a small side consisting of players he was teammates with for the club while speaking on the Aldo Meets… podcast.
“Pepe [Reina], who could also play with his feet, would have to be the goalie. He stated, “He’ll be the goalie without a doubt.
“Due to Carra’s [Jamie Carragher] mindset, I have to include him. It’s not always the best team that wins, especially in training games; it’s usually the players who want to win the most.
“I’ll jump ahead a little bit because [Luis] Suarez is a player who shares that mindset.” He wanted to win whether it was a game, training, or the day before a game at training. It didn’t matter if we played four against two or five against two. That’s why I had the utmost respect for him from the beginning because that’s what you need.
Additionally, he is the kind of center-forward that you can kick a little bit and he will simply get back up and play hard. He was resilient; I saw him take a lot of kicks yet he never gave up.
“Stevie Gerrard must be present.” I need another defender because it’s a balance, big Sami [Hyypia]. Sami was a skilled athlete.
