Chris Sutton says Man United should hire 44-year-old manager to replace Erik ten Hag

After Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, Chris Sutton has been vocal about the manager he thinks Manchester United should pursue for the position.

Speculation about Ten Hag’s future from both fans and critics is growing at an alarming rate.

Whether or not the Manchester United board shares this opinion is unknown, but there are currently no indications that Sir Jim Ratcliffe intends to replace manager Jose Mourinho.

Still, according to Chris Sutton, the club ought to be exploring other options right now.

If Manchester United were serious about turning things around, according to Sutton, who spoke on BBC’s “The Monday Night Club,” they should seek a replacement for ten Hag.

Actually, Sutton thought the club should be pursuing Roberto De Zerbi, a perfect manager currently operating in the Premier League.

Despite Ratcliffe’s current level of stability at Brighton & Hove Albion, Sutton thought the Englishman should show his seriousness by making a bold move to sign the Italian.

United should start Roberto De Zerbi instead of Erik ten Hag, according to Chris Sutton.
Sutton acknowledged on the podcast that relocating would be challenging, but not impossible.

“De Zerbi, say,” he commanded. Is it really that hard to remove De Zerbi from Brighton with a well-defined strategy?

Because of his devotion to Manchester United and his outspoken opinions on the matter, I have no doubt that Sir Jim Ratcliffe would have had.

“He has been vocal about the club’s struggles over the past eleven years; given his knowledge of United’s roster and his preferences for playing style, it seems to reason that he would be interested in De Zerbi.”

Obviously, De Zerbi’s success at Old Trafford is hard to dispute; he’s a remarkable talent.

Sutton may have thought Ten Hag should be fired, but some Manchester United fans might disagree.

After another loss to Manchester City, it’s sure to be a contentious topic that will divide opinions and likely continue into the summer.
