Breaking News: When Adidas reveals drops, Arsenal supporters adore Ian Wright’s announcement.
Now, one of the biggest Arsenal legends in history has a pre-match collection of his own.
To commemorate his time with the Gunners, Ian Wright, an Arsenal hero and national treasure, has received his own line of adidas clothing. This new collection “reflects some of his most iconic moments and favorite memories from his Arsenal past,” according to Arsenal and adidas.
A reversible anthem jacket, a cross-body shoulder bag, and short- and long-sleeved pre-match jerseys in men’s, women’s, and youth sizes are all part of the new all-black and white collection, which combines adidas pre-match and travel wear. The design, which is described as being “inspired by Ian’s vibrant personality, the history of his life, people who are close to him and a selection of his favourite memories from his career,” has a patchwork, hand-drawn illustration effect with a variety of squares.
“Turning 60 last month made me reflect on my time at Arsenal and the special people I’ve worked with,” said Ian Wright OBE, who scored 128 goals for the team and helped them win the FA Cup and Premier League in the 1997–1998 season. I hope this collection evokes love in as many people as it does in me.”
The hand-drawn illustrations and patchwork-style details, which feature motifs from his life story, people close to him, and some of his career highlights, are what make this collection stand out. The campaign to introduce the range has taken a distinctive turn, showcasing “an off-beat look at Ian’s mind” with styled by the man himself, along with current players David Raya, Gabriel Jesus, Katie McCabe, Eddie Nketiah, Kim Little, and other icons Kelly Smith and David Seaman.
