Breaking News: Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk responds to Man Utd icon Roy Keane calling him ‘arrogant’
Roy Keane criticized Virgil van Dijk, and the Red Devils legend responded with a firm statement.
After Sunday’s goalless draw at Anfield, Roy Keane called the star player for United “arrogant.” Now, Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool has responded to Keane. Despite the fact that neither team had the necessary quality to break the tie, the Red Devils battled hard to earn their first Premier League point at Anfield in more than two years.
United’s defensive strategy throughout the match left Liverpool frustrated, and Van Dijk did not mask his annoyance when the final siren blew. Keane accused the Dutchman of being conceited because Liverpool had only won one Premier League title in the previous thirty years, citing his assertion that his team was the only one attempting to win the game.
Since then, Van Dijk has maintained that while he was not taken aback by Keane’s remarks, most spectators would have concurred that Liverpool was the only team trying to win all three points.
“I like Roy Keane, if he said that then it’s fine,” he stated. “He is a true Man United supporter, so I can see how he could react in that way, but there is never any conceit in what I said. I think everyone who watched the game had the same feelings. We continue. The frustrating thing is that we had the chance to score, but we were unable to do so.”
