“I want to return to man city”-Palmer insists he ‘never’ wanted to leave Man City

In order to return stronger and establish himself in Pep Guardiola’s starting lineup, the England international, who cost £42 million ($53 million) to transfer from Manchester City to Chelsea last summer, has stated that he had intended to secure a loan move rather than leave the Premier League champions permanently.

“My thing was to never leave City,” the Blues star said in a Sky Sports interview. That was not my intention. My plan was to go on loan for a year, come back, and be ready for the starting lineup. I couldn’t go on loan, they insisted, and I had to stay or you would be sold. Then I got a call from Chelsea. I mentioned that I wanted to see Chelsea, and I’m so happy to be here. I am so glad I made the decision to come here.

Since joining the London team, Palmer has participated in 16 of the Blues’ 17 Premier League games, scoring 8 goals and dishing out 4 assists. Because of his exceptional play for Pochettino’s team, he was called up to the national team for the first time when Gareth Southgate selected him for the Three Lions squad for their November Euro 2024 qualifiers.

The 21-year-old’s next match is against Middlesbrough on Tuesday, the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final match, for Pochettino’s team. He contributed to his team’s 4-0 FA Cup third-round victory over Preston North End on Saturday.
