Breaking New: Cole Palmer Receives Warning Ahead Of His Etihad Return

Cole Palmer Is Warned Before Returning to Etihad

Shaun Wright-Phillips has made a prediction regarding Cole Palmer’s likely reception this weekend when he returns to the Etihad Stadium. On Saturday afternoon, Manchester City and Chelsea will square off as both teams look to move up the Premier League standings.

The Blues enter the match fresh off a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Monday. The next evening, City defeated Copenhagen in the Danish capital to begin their Champions League knockout stage campaign.

The treble winners have now won their last 11 games in all competitions; their most recent loss came at the beginning of December against Aston Villa. Palmer will be motivated to undermine his former team’s title hopes even though City may be having a great run of play, just as he did earlier in the campaign.

Palmer scored an equalizer in the final seconds of Chelsea’s November match against Pep Guardiola’s team at Stamford Bridge. He managed to steal two important points from City, but the opposition didn’t appear to be giving him any trouble.

But this weekend marks the Blues star’s first visit back to Etihad Stadium since his summer departure, and it’s possible that he’ll encounter hostility. Wright-Phillips made a prediction on City’s Match Day Live program regarding Palmer’s likelihood of receiving a warm welcome upon his return.

“I believe he will receive the same kind of reception as he did in November,” the former winger for Chelsea and City stated. “I don’t believe he has any unresolved issues with the fans. It appears that his fans valued what he accomplished.

You didn’t think he would go there and be the best player there, so I think he’s taken it all by storm in many ways. He went there, handled it coolly, and worked to get things done for them.

“He will find it challenging to return here. He needs to be careful not to fall into the trap of trying too hard. He just needs to be himself because that usually works the other way around. But hopefully he tries too hard.

Palmer has acknowledged in the past that he had no intention of leaving City. The 21-year-old midfielder stated, “My thing was never to leave City,” in an interview with Sky Sports. I had no intention of leaving like that.

“He [Guardiola] said I can’t go on loan. I wanted to go on loan for a year, come back, and be ready for the first team. “You get sold or you stay” is the rule.

“I wanted to just get in the team, play, and show what I could do,” Palmer continued. However, it has surprised me to join the [Chelsea] team right away and perform well.
