Alexis Mac Allister makes ‘crazy’ admission as Liverpool bond with Darwin Nunez addressed
In the lead-up to Liverpool’s Europa League first-leg match against Sparta Prague, Alexis Mac Allister has made some comments.
In reflection on a “crazy” period in his career, Alexis Mac Allister has revealed his relationship with Darwin Nunez, a teammate at Liverpool.
Since joining Liverpool last summer, Mac Allister and his fellow South American have become fast friends. Last weekend, in a 1-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest, Mac Allister assisted Raul Nunez on a dramatic late goal.
After being moved to a more advanced midfield role in recent weeks, the Argentina World Cup winner—who also set up Nunez for a goal earlier in the campaign—has flourished.

Jurgen Klopp is still without a striker and an assistant coach after a Liverpool player suffered a concussion.
As for Mac Allister’s relationship with Darwin, he stated it was “very good” while speaking on Wednesday in the Czech Republic before Liverpool’s Europa League round of 16 first leg against Sparta Prague. The chemistry between us off the field has been obvious from the moment we met. Naturally, we strive to be connected on the pitch.
That bond must be paramount when I play the position of eight, and he is a fantastic human being. He puts in a lot of effort, and I couldn’t be happier for him. Even though it’s not true, I occasionally hear people claiming that I assist him greatly. That he is able to train so effectively and put in so much effort to score goals and contribute to the team’s success is a testament to his level.
“I don’t know, I just play football,” Mac Allister said when asked how he remained calm while helping Nunez in last weekend’s tense finish. I prefer that.
Although I am still quite young, I have played football for quite a while. I think it’s critical to give some thought to the pitch, and the experience is certainly helpful. Once you have possession of the ball, you must attempt to make the best decision you can while keeping an eye on your teammates’ whereabouts. I strive to do that. I am not sure if I appear composed, but I can assure you that my mental capacity is at its peak!”
“The last couple of years have been crazy for me and tough at the same time,” Mac Allister said, reflecting on his time at Brighton and his move to Liverpool for £35 million last June. I had faith in myself even when I was going through tough times. To have my loved ones close by was also crucial.
That being said, I am incredibly proud of my World Cup victory. Winning a World Cup is no easy feat. What a fantastic life I am leading at a club like Liverpool right now. Although I’m sure everyone experiences highs and lows in their lives, I’m currently in a period of great personal satisfaction with my career thus far, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
The 25-year-old Mac Allister is getting ready to face off against Sparta, the reigning Czech champions and current domestic league leaders, on Thursday. He may be paired with fellow summer midfield recruit Dominik Szoboszlai for just the second game in over three months.
“He is an amazing player, a nice lad as well,” remarked the Argentina international of Szoboszlai. His progress is commendable. Despite his injury, we will not overlook his contributions to the team. He is a unique individual and unquestionably an integral part of this squad.
In our opinion, this is going to be a competitive game. We know Sparta is a top-tier squad because they are undefeated at home and in the league. We understand what they do because we’ve watched their videos. However, our attention must be directed inward. Our goal is to win the game, and we can increase our chances of doing so by concentrating on ourselves. However, they are undeniably a formidable squad, and the matchup promises to be exciting.
