Agreement reached: Manchester United reach agreement to sign “magnificent” £50m+ star as he arrives in Manchester ahead of medical today

A defensive midfield player is what Manchester United wants to sign before the transfer window closes.

The Red Devils’ top target is Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain, and a deal may be near given that Scott McTominay is anticipated to sign with Napoli in the next few days.

United has reached an agreement to sell McTominay for a sum of £25 million. The club should have the extra cash needed to sign Ugarte from Les Parisiens thanks to his departure.

Additionally, Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina has been linked to the Red Devils again this summer; however, Corriere dello Sport reports that a trade is no longer expected to happen.

Amrabat can be sold by Fiorentina for £12.7 million, but United won’t agree to their terms.

Fenerbahce has recently shown interest in the Moroccan, but they are unwilling to spend more than £8.5 million. It seems more likely that Amrabat will stick with the Florence outfit.

United stops chasing Amrabat and is instead concentrating on Ugarte.
Amrabat, who joined United on loan from Fiorentina last summer amid great fanfare, was dubbed “world-class” by Morocco boss Walid Regragui.

The 28-year-old, though, found it difficult to adjust to the Premier League’s intensity. By the end of the season, he settled in, but the team chose not to activate the buyout clause.

It has been rumoured that United was thinking of haggling with La Viola for a reduced price, but that is unlikely to happen.

The management is negotiating to sign Ugarte. The 23-year-old wants to play for United, and they might work to get a deal done before this Friday’s transfer deadline.

If the deal goes through, manager Erik ten Hag’s first choice holding midfielder will probably be Ugarte, with Casemiro filling in as a backup when needed.

In any event, it doesn’t appear like the club will return for Amrabat. When his profile was eventually taken from the first-team squad list earlier this month, it was a big clue.
