Ten Hag says this to reinforce his view that he is happy with Man United performance
Erik ten Hag insists he is happy with his current squad and is confident Manchester United will be ‘much stronger’ once they have welcomed back a raft of injured players.
United have suffered from a number of high-profile injuries so far this season and have struggled to find consistency without a regular starting line-up. Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans were the ninth different centre-back pairing the club have used already this season at Anfield and they will now be without Victor Lindelof for a number of weeks following surgery on an unspecified injury.
Ten Hag was quizzed on the club’s January transfer plans on Friday but insisted his side would already be strengthened by returning players next month.
“The current squad, I am happy,” he told reporters at his pre-match press conference. “As we get our players back, we have a good squad, a lot of the way it went in the first season, the reasons behind because many players were not available.
“I am sure when all players are on board it looks different, Casemiro, Martinez, Mount, we will be much stronger after the window.”
United head into the match with West Ham on the back of a rare midweek off and Ten Hag hopes that the extra rest will make a difference to his side this weekend.
He added: “First of all, we had such a busy programme. The lads had some days off ahead of another busy week. They needed the rest, to get away from football, mentally.
“We can go in the week, a great opportunity for us. Liverpool result will give the team confidence. Now we have to get forward.”
When questioned about Manchester United’s January transfer plans, Erik ten Hag makes a prediction.
A number of Man Utd players are currently out of action as the January transfer window draws near.
Erik ten Hag maintains that he is content with his current team and believes Manchester United will be “much stronger” after a number of injured players return.
This season, United has been plagued by a number of high-profile injuries and has found it difficult to remain consistent without a regular starting lineup. After surgery for an undisclosed injury, Victor Lindelof will be sidelined for several weeks, making Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans the club’s ninth different center-back duo this season at Anfield.
Ten Hag maintained that his team would already be strengthened by returning players next month despite being questioned on the club’s January transfer plans on Friday.
“I am happy with the current squad,” he said to the media prior to kickoff. “Now that we have our players back, we have a strong team. The first season’s results were largely due to the absence of several players.
“I am sure when all players are on board it looks different, Casemiro, Martinez, Mount, we will be much stronger after the window.”
Following a rare midweek break, United takes on West Ham this weekend, and Ten Hag is hoping that the extra rest will help his team.
“First of all, we had such a busy program,” he continued. The boys were off for a few days before another hectic week. They required the time off to mentally detach themselves from football.
“We have a great opportunity to go later this week. The Liverpool result will boost the team’s morale. We must now move forward.
